With gas prices skyrocketing, more and more people are turning to more economical transport such as Kymco's Maxi-scooter, the fuel-injected Xciting 500Ri. (Photo: Kymco) ยป More Photos

With appropriate fanfare and an awesome light show, KYMCO used its first Annual Dealer Meeting to introduce six new scooters offering choices that range from retro 50cc models to the Maxi-scooter, fuel-injected Xciting 500Ri. At the same time, KYMCO has re-introduced its popular People 50 and 150 in retro two-tone color choices to bring them back to market at an MSRP that starts below $2,000.

The biggest splash is being made by the new fuel-injected Xciting 500Ri and 250Ri. These hot-looking sport models with dark tinted, low profile wind screens, blacked out bits, race red brake calipers and a lowered seat height, are hot performers, too — with an 8% gain in horsepower over the naturally aspirated versions. The Xciting 500Ri is the first KYMCO to boast optional ABS braking. The popular KYMCO stepless CVT transmission is also standard, as are liquid cooling and a cool white instrument cluster, under seat storage and an AC adapter cell
phone charger.

The Sento 50 and Sting 50 are new nameplates for KYMCO USA. The Sento 50 is a retro-style value leader with traditional 10-inch wheels and a choice of three two-tone color schemes: rose/white, light blue/white, and light brown/white. And while the styling and analog instrumentation may be retro, up-to-date features include electric start, CVT transmission and a front disc brake.

The Sting 50 combines the retro theme and KYMCO’s peppy two-stroke 49cc engine. Clean burning and EPA approved, the Sting 50 is available in light green/silver, light blue/silver, and rose/silver.

For those who want an affordable two-wheeler with an aggressive sport bike look, KYMCO has introduced the new Super 8 50 and Super 8 150 models. With front disc brakes and KYMCO's popular CVT transmission, these clean burning 4-stroke Super 8’s are easy and safe to ride — around town, campus or the pits.
