Kawasaki Teryx RUV: Versatility, Power and Performance

The Teryx takes that original idea several giant steps forward with an impressive 749cc V-twin powerplant mated to a continuously variable 4WD transmission. (Photo: Kawasaki Motors Corp) ยป More Photos

When I got the call from Kawasaki to come spend a day with the all-new V-twin Teryx RUV I could have sworn they said Idaho so I jumped at the chance. I had recently seen the Teryx Test Drive on SPEED and couldn’t wait to give it a spin. It wasn’t until after I was committed that I received the itinerary and found out I was really headed to Iowa. Before any of you hardcore Hawkeye fans get all cranked up let me explain. Never having been to Iowa before I’ll be honest I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. But I could clearly recall the evening news for the past few weeks being dominated by images of Iowa as flooding and devastation ruled the day.
Come to find out that my perception couldn’t have been more wrong as it was eastern Iowa that was flooding while western Iowa was still hot and dry. I expected endless plains but was pleasantly surprised as our small band of journalists boarded the tour bus and headed out south of Sioux City with hills and trees and primo looking OHV terrain dominating the landscape. When we arrived an hour later at our final destination, the Timber Ridge Ranch outside the little town of Castana, and a fleet of shiny new Teryx RUV’s I had the feeling we were in for quite a day.

Check out the SPEED Test Drive of the Teryx and get the schedule for the next airing.
