America’s most spectacular motorcycling and sightseeing is found in the Wild West. You will be traveling through five states to experience the Southwest at its best; Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, and Utah. You will begin your adventurous journey in the city of lights and glimmer, Las Vegas. So if gambling, walking through the elegant casinos, going to a show or just hanging out at the pool interests you, Las Vegas is the place. On your way to Lake Havasu City, where the original London Bridge is located, you will go by the Hoover Dam and not only see what a marvelous structure it is but also the newly built bridge that expands across the canyon walls, connecting Nevada to Arizona.

It stretches over the Colorado River at a height of 900 feet. The Sonora Desert is your next treat as you head to Prescott, Arizona. With 80 % of all cacti species found in the world and one of four deserts found in the United Sates, the abundant plant life and wildlife gives you a different perspective of what a desert really is. The curves through the alpine laden mountains are a great way to end the ride day. The first rest day will be in Prescott where you will have the opportunity to ride more curves as you cross Mingus Mountain into the ghost town of Jerome. It is an old copper mining town that was built on the mountainside which is now a great place to walk around or even have lunch.

Welcome to Red Rock Country, Arizona. Sedona is also on the route today. Don’t miss the Chapel of the Cross and its beautiful architecture. You will then continue over to eastern Arizona where the White Mountains Apache Indians live. The weather is beautiful and the smell of pine trees in the air. New Mexico is now calling for you. You will ride through the Zuni Tribal Reservation, experience Navajo Indian customs and traditions, and see Canyon de Chelly, where the Navajo people have made it their home for thousands of years. Four Corners, where Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado and Utah meet, is an interesting geographical spot. Yes, you can kneel down and be in all four states at once.

Shopping is available here where the Navajo people sell their artwork, turquoise and silver jewelry, and tourist curios. Mesa Verde is a National Park and this is where the great cliff dwellings are located. There are approx. 1,500 ruins built into the cliffs and onto the ledges. The road leads up the mountain where you will get your fill of afternoon twisties. As you continue to Moab, you will have the opportunity to ride “The Million Dollar Highway”. This will take you from Silverton over Red Mountain Pass (11,008 feet) and into Ouray, the Switzerland of America. The riding rivals the areas of the Alps in Europe with the beautiful scenery and hair pin curves! Moab, Utah will be the second rest day.

You will have the chance to take a day rafting trip down the Colorado River, take a Jeep tour, go hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding or take a ride to Arches National Park or Canyonlands National Park. Anything that you decide to do will be very enjoyable and is a great way to spend your time in the sandstone hills of Utah. Utah is a wonderful place to spend time in the Spring and Fall. While riding through Capitol Reef National Park and the Escalante Staircase, you will see vibrant colors and rock formations that exist only here. What better way to experience this than on the motorcycle of your choice?

You next National Parks will be Bryce Canyon and Zion where you will have your third rest day. Between the Hoo-doos and Angel Landing, once again the orange and red towering mountains will give you a better comprehension why the pioneers said, “This is the place”. As you make your last day’s ride back to Las Vegas, don’t forget to see the Valley of Fire. It is hard to believe that Native Americans once lived here within the blazing red rocks. Whether you have been to the Southwest before or are looking for a new place to vacation or are just looking for a wild ride, join Edelweiss Bike Travel on the Wild West Tour and you will quickly see and understand that daydreaming about the tour doesn’t compare to actually being there.
