DAK ATTACK: Dennis Butcher’s Wild GSXR1000

It doesn’t take long to realize Dennis Butcher’s street custom is as much about go as it is show. Both brakes are still in use up front, the bike has only received a minimal amount of lowering, and hiding under the mirror finish Gator Customs painted bodywork lurks a nasty 300 horsepower, turbo charged GSXR1000 motor. Regularly firing Dennis down the drag strip in less than nine seconds at over 160mph, it is also obvious that the eight-inch over Trac rear end wasn’t just added to look pretty in pictures either.

As the first full blown custom motorcycle to roll out of the Dak Accessories workshop in Chapmanville, West Virginia,
the GSXR1000 turbo took Dennis about six months to build. Designed from the beginning to be fast down the quarter mile, Dennis was serious about not using a lot of chrome on his bike. Wanting something that was super clean, as well as functional, he also made sure he kept the graphics on the bodywork pretty basic. This allows the quality of the Gator Customs paint to speak for itself, with every square inch of the painted surface looking as if the paint is still wet.
