BMW Motorrad Motorsport’s Anders Eriksson has added another win to the growing list of victories for the BMW G 450 X by finishing in first place at a recent 12-hour enduro team race in Sweden.
The seven-times Enduro World Champion competed as part of a six-rider team (Anders Eriksson, Fredrik Georgsson, Mattias Holmgren, Anders Georgsson, Rikard Hansson, Daniel Johansson, Oscar Åberg) with his local club, Tibro MK. The ‘12-Timmars’ race took place at Skövde in southern Sweden and started at one minute past midnight, which gave Anders plenty of opportunity to ride the G 450 X in the dark.
“This was particularly interesting,” said Anders. “I was trying out a few things on the BMW in preparation for a big ‘extreme’ race that takes place in Sweden every November. This included Xenon lights – two on the helmet
With around 80 teams and nearly 500 riders competing, the course was fairly dusty because it has been dry in Sweden for the past few weeks. A lap of the course was approximately 11 miles, which took Anders and his team-mates around 25-26 minutes (depending on the rider). Each rider was only allowed one lap of the course before a team-mate took over, although there was special dispensation for Anders, who was allowed to ride for two 90-minute sessions.
