We recently returned from our annual gathering in Las Vegas at the Mid-America Vintage Motorcycle Auction, the largest vintage motorcycle auction in the world. This unique and special auction draws motorcycle enthusiasts, buyers and collectors from around the world.
For many years now, my old riding buddies from Arizona, a.k.a. “The Usual Suspects” meet for a weekend of vintage motorcycles, reminiscing about old times, a little drinking and eating, a little gambling and a whole LOT of fun!
It was great to see everyone again and I was glad everyone decided to come, given the current economic climate. We were all wondering how this would impact the auction and mood this year.

The organizers also added two nights of indoor flat track races, for Friday and Saturday night, and this was well attended and enthusiastically received as well. This was all part of famed AMA Champion Gene Romero’s Flat Track Racing Series.
As for the auction itself, there is a motorcycle and/or motorcycle related piece of memorabilia for everyone, whether it is American, Japanese, British, or European large or small displacement, totally restored or excellent original, historic racing or custom, the Mid America auction is truly a venue for all two-wheeled enthusiasts.
