Steve Lamb, Deacons of Deadwood president, and Mike Fisher, Deacons of Deadwood Charities Chairman, auctioned off the pedal cycle built by Workshop Houston.
More than 600 guests attended the Deacons of Deadwood Annual Charity Gala, held at the Bayou City Music Center on September 29. The group of professionals by day and motorcycle enthusiasts by night, raised more than $300,000 to benefit local children’s charities.

Since they were founded in 2002, this group of leather-wearing, motorcycle enthusiasts have donned their tuxedos annually and raised over $1 million to assist children throughout the Houston area. This year, the money raised by Deacons of Deadwood will benefit 10 children’s non-profits including Devereux Texas, Boys and Girls Country, Covenant House Texas, Camp Quality, 1st Colony Little League – Dream League, Workshop Houston, ARTreach, Panther Creek Inspiration Ranch, LINC Houston and Child Advocates.

The evening, headed by Steve Lamb, Deacons of Deadwood president, and sponsored by Big Dog Logistics, featured music by the Fab 5 and the famous Blue Oyster Cult, as well as dinner catered by Demeris of Houston.

“This was an outstanding year for the Deacons, and we’re pleased to be able to provide so much help for children in our community,” said Lamb.

In addition to an evening of dinner and dancing, guests admired the eye-catching pedal cycle created and assembled by Workshop Houston, a local non-profit that provides youth with creative, technical and educational resources. The bike was auctioned off at the gala for an amazing $10,000.

“We were inspired by the work of this group of children and adolescents at Workshop Houston,” said Mike Fisher, Deacons of Deadwood Charities Chairman.

Over the next couple of months, Deacons of Deadwood will present checks to each of the 10 charities, often riding together to the charities so they have an opportunity to meet and interact with the children.
