Anyone who owns a Harley-Davidson, or any metric cruiser for that matter, knows that Rush Racing is famous for their mufflers and exhaust systems. Less known, however, is that they make outstanding comfortable replacement seats for Harley-Davidson Touring models from 2008 through 2012.

Most owners are unhappy with the stock seats that come on Harley Touring models, and since the bike is made for long days in the saddle, riders are looking for ways to be able to rack up the miles comfortably. Several years ago, Terry Daniel, CEO of Rush Racing, tried several aftermarket seats, and couldn’t find one he liked, so he decided to do some research and engineer his own.

Rush starts out each seat with a stainless steel base, not plastic or fiberglass. Then a layer of engineered gel polymer for superior shock absorption is inlaid. Above that is a layer of resilient memory foam formulated to absorb energy, along with a layer of homogeneous polyurethane foam lab tested for comfort. And then a layer of waterproof, UV protected, vinyl, with waterproof seams, is sewn on by hand. Now you have a seat that will absorb shock, disperse the rider’s weight evenly, and prevent hot spots that occur with other seats, and resist damage from the elements.

The Comfort Plus model with an open center channel design goes a step further, and came into being after Terry Daniel broke his tailbone. He experimented with cutting a channel in the center of the rider’s seat. The rear portion of that cut-out, relieved the pressure on his sensitive tail bone, and the forward portion of the cut-out, relives the pressure on the prostate. The result is an all day comfortable seat that any man will benefit from. Researchers studying avid bicyclists have reported many different kinds of health issues due to the pressure on the prostate that bicycle seats can cause. And you can even order the Comfort Plus cut-out for the pillion portion of the seat for the tailbone comfort of your passenger for long rides. And those channels won’t accumulate water if left out in the rain, as they have specially engineered drain holes with tubes to route the water away from the seat.

A cruiser seat without channels retails for $399.95. The Cycle Pedic, with a rider channel only, is $499.95, the Cycle Pedic 2 with the dual channel is $599.95, and the new Comfort Plus is $699.95.
